Regulation 650/2012 lets EU residents choose whether the law of their nationality or their habitual residence governs their succession. Without an explicit choice (professio juris), the law of habitual residence applies by default — which often surprises expat families. The Sucesio Compass evaluates whether you've made this choice clearly.
