Information for named people
Last updated: 3 November 2026
This page is for you if a Sucesio user has named you as a trusted contact or as someone close to the account holder, or if you are presenting a death certificate. It explains what data we process about you, why, and how to exercise your rights.
What Sucesio does
A Sucesio user, called the account holder here, keeps an inventory of where their things are, so that their family knows where to start when the time comes. Sucesio is a complement to the will. The will is not deposited with Sucesio, and Sucesio gives no legal or tax advice.
Being named does not make you an heir: the account holder’s will, or the law, decides that.
Data controller
Nicolas Ponette, Calle Bailén 12, 28013 Madrid, nicolas@sucesio.io.
If you are a trusted contact
This role. If one day the account holder stops answering our periodic check-ins, Sucesio will contact you to find out whether everything is all right. Where relevant, you may present their death certificate to us. You cannot see the inventory.
Your data. Sucesio keeps your first name, last name, e-mail address and phone number, as provided by the account holder. They are used only to contact you in this role.
How you are informed. As soon as the account holder names you, Sucesio sends you an information notice by e-mail. We keep a record of this sending: date and time, address used, language, text version and delivery result.
Legal basis. The legitimate interest of the account holder in having their family informed (article 6.1.f GDPR).
If the account holder has named you
Your data. Sucesio keeps your name and your family relationship to the account holder, as provided by them. No address, no e-mail, no phone number.
Why you have not received a message. We keep no contact details about you while the account holder is alive. This is a data minimisation choice: we keep as little data about you as possible. This is why this page exists.
When the time comes. The person who presents the death certificate gives us your e-mail address. Our first message gives you full information about your data: who provided it, why, and your rights. All named people receive the same complete inventory. Personal messages the account holder wrote to you are delivered to you alone.
Legal basis. The legitimate interest of the account holder in having their family informed (article 6.1.f GDPR).
If you present a death certificate
Sucesio keeps the certificate. We check your identity against a document (DNI, NIE or passport): we look at it, we do not keep it. We record only the type of document, the date of the check and who carried it out. You also give us the e-mail addresses of the named family members.
Legal basis. The legitimate interest of the account holder and those close to them in having the inventory reach the named people, and Sucesio’s interest in delivering it only to the right people (article 6.1.f GDPR).
Who accesses your data
Our hosting and messaging providers access it for this purpose only; their list is on the Sub-processors page. Nicolas Ponette accesses it to contact you in your role, and to check a certificate and the identity of the person presenting it. The database that holds it is hosted in the European Union.
Outside the European Union. Two of our providers call for a clarification. Resend sends our emails from Ireland; Resend Inc. is a US company, which may access them from the United States. Inngest, in the United States, runs our scheduled tasks: it receives only technical identifiers and dates, never your name, your email, your phone number or the content of your inventory. The full list is on the Sub-processors page.
How long
Your data is kept for as long as you remain named. It is deleted if the account holder removes you or closes their account. The record of the notice sending is deleted with the account. The identity document is never kept.
After the inventory is delivered, your data is deleted. Only the proof of delivery is kept for five years, then deleted: the death certificate, the verification steps and the record of messages sent.
Your rights
At any time you may access your data, correct it or ask for its deletion by writing to nicolas@sucesio.io. As we sometimes hold only your name and family relationship, we may ask you for additional information to verify your identity.
Your right to object
At any time you may object to the processing of your data and decline to be named, by writing to nicolas@sucesio.io. If you are a trusted contact, you may also use the decline link in your information notice.
After that, Sucesio will no longer contact you in this role. We record the date you declined. The account holder is informed only that you declined, with no other detail, so that they can name someone else. If you also want your data deleted, say so in your message.
Complaints
You may also contact the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es).
